For this month on The Thread Talks, we are talking bold prints and textures. My daughter and I were lucky enough to shoot with Michelle Perry (our talented photographer) at an amazing home for sale in Paradise Valley for $4,995,000. It is listed by Alexander Molleo at The Brokery and is located in the prestigious Casa Blanca Estates.

*See below for showing instructions.

What makes this home so amazing are the bold designs and textures used in the interior design. Items rarely thought to work well with each other are blended perfectly with sheer perfection. The designer took risks that certainly paid off. This home is fun and elegant at the same time and a rare find. So, let’s explore…

When you enter this fabulous home, you will find a bold print in the flooring tile. The designer matched it with a dramatic chandelier and a textured black wallpaper. Three items that are bold in and of itself, put together for a dramatic entrance. In fashion, use bold prints and colors to make a statement or your “dramatic entrance”. Imagine being in a room full of people when a woman walks in wearing a bright red dress. Or being in a business meeting where a man walks in with a bold print shirt with his suit or a woman in a bold print blouse. Who do you think will get noticed? It makes a statement and conveys confidence.

Now bold prints do not always have to be a smack in your face. They can be used in a more understated way and still make a statement. The designer of this home did that magically in the kitchen. While still using a bold print tile in the floors, they paired it with calming colors and milder textures. There is a gorgeous silver and textured backsplash above the stove, paired with stylish knobs and hardware to pull everything together. And although the lights above the kitchen island are big and bold, the solid black color keeps the feel of the room more on the understated side. So fun and elegant!

How do you do this with your style? Choose bold prints in calmer colors. The “hardware” is your jewelry. Choose unique accessories without making too much of a statement that it takes away from the clothes. And fun shoes are always a way to make a bold or mildly bold statement.

In the next issue of The Thread Talks, we will explore more of this gorgeous home focusing on the textures...and threading it with some fun fashion pieces.
