“After women, flowers are the most divine creations.” - Christian Dior

Flowers, flowers, and more flowers! I cannot get enough flowers! They make me smile and elevate the mood of the room.

This month at The Thread Talks, we are talking BIG Bold flowers. And I invite you back to my personal home where you can see my take on using flowers classically in décor…and in my daughter's and my personal wardrobe. You will also get to meet the furry loves of our family. So, let’s explore…

First up is my gorgeous daughter showing off this flirty flower print dress by MISA Los Angeles. Keeping it simple by pairing with heels, a fun jacket, and loose curls… she looks young and fresh! For the décor...cluster a mix of different flowers in various size/shape vases for a fun and fresh feel.

Next up and stealing the scene are Biscuit and Gravy. They are happy to sit tight while “mom” shows off a flower skirt paired with a solid shirt and bold earrings to give balance to the look. When using bold prints, try to mute the whole look by matching with solids. Otherwise, the look can get overwhelming with too much print.

The same concept goes for the interior design. We have all seen those photos of print overload in a room. This is where the interior designer is obsessed with prints, that it looks like they were drunk when they chose the décor. Picture a patterned couch with flower wallpaper, gingham print pillows, and equally busy photo prints on the walls. Talk about an anxiety ridden place to call home!

For my living room, I wanted to make a statement while creating a relaxing space…which is not easy to do when it is the boldest room of the house. I had so much fun designing this room! I chose a big flower photo for inspiration and added this custom solid sectional. It is a bold color, but when you add classic and clean lines of lighting, some more white flowers and candles as accessories, and a cozy rug, it calms the mood of the room.

Same concept for the powder room. This is the perfect place to get creative and take chances. Don’t be afraid to make a statement. With all the peel and stick wallpaper available now, there is no anxiety over the permanency, as you can change it out if your mood changes.

For my master bedroom, I chose calmer colors, but using the same concept. One of my favorite designers is Ted Baker. I LOVE his clothes so much (as seen in these coulot pants) that I decorated my master bedroom around his bold flower duvet. It goes well with the velvet rose headboard and understated glossy front shoe closets…with Ted Baker shoes inside, of course. And yes….I have closets for my shoes. And yes…I have a shoe problem. But we will save that for another day!
